In Spanish, the verbs ser and estar (to be) have some important differences. Typically, the verb ser refers to specific attributes of something or someone, like physical description (bajo), personality (serio), nationality (argentina), or gender (hombre/ mujer). These attributes tend to be more permanent. For example, Andrés es muy bajo para jugar en el equipo de basquetbol. On the other hand, the verb estar is typically used for states of being that tend to be more transitory. For example, Mi maestra no vino hoy porque está enferma. In the first example, the attribute bajo (short) is unlikely to change, whereas in the second example the state of being enfermo (sick) is likely to change.
Editing is a stage in the writing process when a written text is prepared for an audience by attending to and correcting mechanics, grammar, and spelling. Applying the standards of the English language correctly helps the audience more easily comprehend the information because it is not having to interrupt thinking to determine what the writer intended to say.
Students should use the knowledge they acquired in previous grades to understand the correct conjugation of verb tenses. Verbs in the past tense refer to actions that took place in the past, like exploré, corrimos, or visitó. Verbs in the present tense indicate actions that occur in the present time, like exploro, corremos, and visita. Verbs in the future tense are generally used to make predictions or to show ability, intention or determination. For example, exploraré, correremos, and visitará. Students should accurately use verb tenses in their writing to provide a clear idea of the message they intend to convey.
