Knowledge and Skills Statement

Inquiry and research: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student engages in both short-term and sustained recursive inquiry processes for a variety of purposes.

Sample rubric:

  1. The student is unwilling or unable to present results from an inquiry task.
  2. The student is able to present results from an inquiry task in one way with significant support and prompting from an adult.
  3. The student is able to present results from an inquiry task in one way with minimal support and prompting from an adult.
  4. The student is able to present results from an inquiry task in more than one way, staying on topic and clearly presenting the message.
A multimodal text includes the strategic integration of two or more modes of communication including written and spoken texts, images, gestures, music, digital texts and media, and live performances.
